The holiday season is here, and at Governors Gate, we’re excited to kick things off with a meaningful tradition! This year, we’re joining Morguard’s North Pole Express, a four-week donation drive dedicated to bringing joy to children in foster care. We’re proud to partner with Comfort Cases, a nonprofit organization that’s making a difference in the lives of foster kids. We would love for our Governors Gate community to join us in making this holiday season extra special!
What Is the North Pole Express? 🎅
Imagine a sleigh filled with more than just toys—this drive focuses on collecting essential items that can truly brighten a child’s day. The North Pole Express is Morguard’s annual, nationwide initiative where communities like Governors Gate come together to collect donations. For the next four weeks, we’re transforming our lobby into a festive drop-off point, ready to be filled with your generous contributions!
Who Are We Supporting? 💙
We are honored to team up with Comfort Cases, a nonprofit founded by Rob Scheer, who grew up in the foster care system himself. Rob created Comfort Cases to change the heartbreaking reality that many foster children carry their belongings in trash bags. Comfort Cases fills backpacks with essentials like new pajamas, books, cozy blankets, and hygiene products—everything a child needs to feel cared for.
These comfort cases are more than just backpacks; they are a source of dignity, comfort, and hope for children going through tough transitions. Each item is chosen to remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved.
How Can You Get Involved? 🎁
We invite our wonderful Governors Gate residents to join us in spreading holiday cheer! From now through December 13th, we’re collecting the following items in our lobby:
- New pajamas (all sizes welcome)
- Diaper wipes (packs of 10-48)
- Children’s books (everyone deserves a bedtime story)
- Small blankets & stuffed animals (perfect for a cozy hug)
- Baby washcloths (to keep little ones clean)
Please note that all donations must be new and unused, and they should not be religious or holiday-themed to ensure they’re suitable for all children.
